According to recent figures the British army consists of 114,000 soldiers along with 35,000 Territorial Army (TA) soldiers.

The TA is is the volunteer reserve force of the British Army. It forms roughly a quarter of the overall total o the land army. TA units or individuals regularly serve on operations along side the regular army.

As a member of the territial army, you must commit yourself to serve 27 training days per annum with an independent locally based unit. This period will normally involve having a two week period of continous training either as a unit, or on a course, or attached to a regular unit.
